In the past, the wheel hub bearings in saloon car are mostly two sets of single row tapered roller bearing or ball bearing. With the technical development, the saloon car wheel hub units are widely used in the saloon car. Worn or damaged wheel hub bearing or bearing units may cause failure during your driving process or even hurt you. During the wheel hub bearing application and installation process, the following matters should be paid attention to:
1.In order to assure your safety and the car’s reliability, you should check the wheel hub bearings regularly no matter how old the car is. Notice if the bearing has the early alerting signal of abrasion: friction noise during the rotating process or abnormal speed reduction of suspension combination wheels while making a turn. For the cars of Rear Wheel Drive, the front wheel wheel hub bearing should be lubricated when the cars have driven 38000 kilometers. When you replace the braking system, check the bearing and replace the oil seal.
2.If you hear noise from wheel hub bearing part, then first find the location of the noise. If the noise is caused by the bearing, then possibly the bearing has been damaged and needs to be replaced.
3. Because the working conditions of front wheel wheel hub resulting both-side bearing failure are similar, therefore, suggest you replace the bearings in pairs even there is only one bearing damaged.
4. The wheel hub bearings are very sensitive, so you should use correct method and proper tool under any cases. During the storage and installation process, the bearing parts can not be damaged. Use special tools and refer to automobile manufacturing manual when you install the bearings.
5. Bearing installation should be in clean and neat environment. Even the entrance of a tiny particle will shorten the service life of bearings. It is very important to keep a clean environment when you replace bearings.
6.For the wheel hub bearing units, do not disconnect the wheel hub bearing or adjust the seal ring of wheel hub units, or you may damage the seal ring or result in the entrance of dust, even cause damage of seal ring and inter raceway and result in the forever failure of bearings.
7. There is a magnetic thrust ring in the seal ring of bearings with ABS equipment, and this kind of thrust ring can not be crashed, impacted or hit other magnetic field.
8. Many bearings are sealed. This kind of bearing do not need lubricating during the whole service life. Other non-sealed bearings, such as double row tapered roller bearing, need grease lubrication when install. Because the inner cavity of bearings are not the same, so it is hard to decide how much grease should be added. The most important thing is to assure there is grease in the bearing. If the grease is overmuch, then the needless grease will exude. General experience: the total amount of grease should occupy 50% of the clearance of bearing when install.
9. When you install the lock nut, because of the difference of bearing type and bearing block, the size difference of torques may be very large.
