JTEKT originally is Koyo Seiko (founded in 1921) and Toyoda Machine Works (founded in 1941).
Koyo Seiko was founded by Zenichiro Ikeda in 1921, for decades it had been developed as a world-class manufacturer of bearings which turn the wheels of industry. In 1960s Koyo Seiko began to develop and produce automotive steerings and was succeeded in developing world's first electric power steering (EPS) and put it into mass production in 1988. This first EPS appeared on Suzuki Cervo, ushering a new era of steering assist by electric power.
Toyoda Machine Works was founded in 1941 as an independent body from the Machine Tools Division of Toyoda Motor Corporation. Now it is known as a machine tool manufacturer excelling in world-leading technologies with customers all over world. Toyoda Machine Works also produced and sold automotive components as steerings and driveline components. Toyoda Machine Works began the production of intelligent torque controlled coupling (ITCC) in 1998 and acquired Torsen Business Division from Bosch Automotive.

Since JTEKT was established in January 2006 through the merger of Koyo Seiko (founded in 1921) and Toyoda Machine Works. According to the corporate philosophy "seek to contribute to the happiness of people and the abundance of society through product manufacturing that wins the trust of society", we produce and sell JTEKT automotive components, Koyo bearings and TOYODA machine tools, do our best to provide high-quality products and sincere service for every customer with our suppliers, partners and dealers in China.
Since the establishment of the first manufacturing plant in China in 1995, now there are 25 companies of JTEKT including 1 regional headquarter, 6 bearings manufacturers, 8 automotive components manufacturers, 1 TOYODA machine tool manufacturer, 2 technical centers and 7 JTEKT group affiliated companies. Over 5500 JTEKT’s employees work in China.
Moving forward, we aim to further strengthen our production, sales and technology framework and strive to provide better products and services based on an abundant product line-up and a track record of achievements and trust built up on a global scale.
